Columbia St Waterfront District

Neighborhood Image

The Columbia Street Waterfront District is a small neighborhood bordered by Atlantic Avenue to the north, the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the south and stretches from the water of the East River to the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Located just north of Red Hook proper, south of Brooklyn Heights, and west of Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill.

The area, located along (its main attraction) the piers lining Upper New york Bay, is composed of multi-family houses, community gardens, popular restaurants and galleries. Recently, with advent of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, the newly implemented bicycle and pedestrian pathway along Columbia Street and the opening of Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the area has seen new growth, development and investments (see: NYT article).
